Welcome to Our Herd 🐘💗
We’re so excited to bring you the inaugural edition of the Pink Elephant Newsletter!
Elephants, aside from being incredibly intelligent with extraordinary memories, travel together in groups known as herds. Here in our Pink Elephant community, you are both seen and Herd!—and that’s exactly the spirit we want this space to embody.
A Season of Reflection
This first newsletter comes just around the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, a deeply meaningful time for me personally.
On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, 13 years ago, I lost my beloved son Boruch (of blessed memory). It’s a period of time that feels like both a heartbeat and an eternity.
Two years ago, with the support of my incredible team (you know who you are 💕), we launched our very first episode, Good Grief. In that episode, I spoke with another mother who had walked a similar path of loss.
That conversation sparked the beginning of what the Pink Elephant Podcast has become.
Since then, we’ve created space for conversations—both joyous and painful—that are often left unsaid.
New Life, New Beginnings 🌙🌸
This season of reflection also brought blessings of new life. Over the summer, our family welcomed two beautiful granddaughters:
Gittel
Emunah Bracha (affectionately called Moon), whose name carries part of my son’s memory.
Their arrivals remind me of the ongoing cycle of grief, healing, and renewal.
Featured Episode 🎧🎙️
To carry on the theme of new beginnings, I encourage you to listen to our latest episode with the wise and insightful Author Aryeh Ho.
We talk about his life and career, as well as the children’s book he wrote, The Two New Years. The book is perfectly fitting for this season and highlights something powerful: we have far more in common than what sets us apart.
Lessons from Elephants 💕🐘
In honor of our Pink Elephant community, let’s take a page from the elephants themselves.
Research shows that elephants thrive on:
Cooperation
Communication
Empathy
They stand guard over sick members, bring food and water, and comfort one another with gentle touches. There’s a beautiful lesson there for all of us, especially as we step into a new year.
A Wish for the Year Ahead ✨
To those celebrating, we at the Pink Elephant Podcast family wish you a year of health, peace, love, and abundance.
Hold your loved ones close. Hug them often.
And let’s all remember the wisdom of our elephant friends:
kindness, communication, and empathy always.
With love,
Debbie
